Mitochondrial Medicine: A combined Diagnostic and Research Program Background and Rationale: Dr. Douglas Wallace, Program Director

Continuing the thirty year investigation begun by Dr. Wallace in 1975, the MITOMED program researches the role of mitochondria in disease. MITOMED's mission is to research the nature and prevalence of mitochondrial disease and to use this knowledge to develop more effective diagnostics and therapeutics.

Overview of the Chinese American Diabetes Project - 华裔糖尿病研究概况

About 1% of type 2 diabetes is caused by a mitochondrial disorder, and mitochondrial factors in diabetes may also be important for other people. Mitomed is researching whether differences in mitochondrial genes change a person’s risk to develop diabetes.
